Changes in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 4 UK applications

From 6 April 2010 the UK Government has made significant changes to Tier 1 (highly skilled workers) and Tier 2 (skilled workers with a job offer and Intra-Company Transfers) of the points-based system, as well as to marriage visas for members of the armed forces, asylum and English for Speakers of Other Languages. The full news report on the changes, and changes beyond April 2010, can be found on our UK Border Agency website.

Also from 6 April 2010 changes to the UK Immigration Rules come into force that affect student applicants under Tier 4 of the points-based system and education providers which sponsor them.  Changes include rules governing the new Highly Trusted sponsor licence.  Only sponsors that hold a Highly Trusted sponsor licence can now offer certain courses.  The full news report explaining all the changes, how sponsors can apply for the new licence and transitional arrangements for education providers can be found on our UK Border Agency website.
